Burn Smart

Always place your candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface away from anything flammable or drafty. To preserve the integrity of the wax and wick, burn for no more than 3–4 hours at a time. Burning longer can cause carbon buildup (mushrooming) on the wick, which leads to excess smoke and an unstable flame.

Trim Gently

Before each burn, trim the wick to ¼”. This helps your candle burn cleanly and evenly, and keeps soot from forming around the rim. Be sure to remove any wick trimmings or debris before lighting.

Set the Scene

Avoid placing your candle near fans, vents, or open windows. Even subtle air movement can cause uneven burning or flickering. If you’re lighting more than one candle, give them space (at least 3” apart) to prevent them from creating their own draft.

Stay Close, Stay Safe

Never leave a candle burning unattended. Always extinguish before leaving the room or going to sleep. Avoid moving or touching your candle while the wax is hot or liquid. Let it cool completely before handling.

Know When It’s Time

When just ½” of wax remains, it’s time to say goodbye. Burning too low can risk overheating the vessel. For your safety, don’t burn all the way down. Let the last burn be a graceful one.

Extinguish with Intention

Use a snuffer if you have one. It’s the safest way to put out your flame without splattering wax. Never use water to extinguish your candle. This can cause the wax to splatter and the vessel to crack. Wait until the flame is fully out and the wax is cool before touching or moving your candle.
